Welcome to Easter Week. As we prepare for the long weekend to celebrate the season, I want to remind families of the early release on Thursday (no school Friday and Monday) and the return to school on Tuesday, April 22.
Earth Day Project
"Upcycling" Quilt for House of Refuge
On average, it is said a US consumer throws away 81.5 lbs of clothing annually and the fashion industry is responsible for 20% of global wastewater on the planet (earth.org).
San Tan looks to curb this issue by re-purposing unused clothing to produce patchwork quilts for families in need. To help us with our project, we ask that each student brings a piece of cotton fabric (5” x 5” incher or larger) or a piece of cotton clothing to their English class in the following color(s): black, white, green, yellow, or gold. Together, we will cut the fabrics into squares and sew them together to produce quilts for House of Refuge, a local non-profit providing housing and shelter for families in need.
Please bring cotton fabric or a cotton clothing item to school on 4/22/2025.
Do you have sewing skills? Please consider volunteering in the sewing room on Earth Day! Sign up here:
